Navatri festival 2011

Estamos aqui na Índia durante o festival Nava Rathiri (o festival celebrado durante 9 dias, três mulheres Deusas da Índia (Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati)

É muito bacana assistir as diferenças culturais entre os povos!!! Ontem fomos na casa do Dr. Ramani (Fundador e Diretor do Hospital Sankara) sem palavras para descrever a generosidade do casal Ramani. A maioria das pessoas exibi uma coleção de bonecos nas suas casas. Diversas actividades culturais ocorrem. Pessoas cantam, dançam, tocam instrumentos musicais, vestidos luxoosos, etc para celebrar este festival que faz lembrar a todos que somos bonecos nas mãos de Deus.Você não vai ver esses bonecos exibidos nas casas, durante o resto do ano. É chamado de "Golu". Os bonecos são exclusivos para o sul da Índia mais no estado TamilNadu. As decorações nos templos também são INCRÍVEIS !!

We are here in India during the Nava Rathiri festival (the 9 day festival celebrating the three powerful Indian women Goddesses --- Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati --- Sep 28th 2011 to Oct 6th 2011).

It is a FUN time !! so Yesterday we went to Dr. Ramani’s house (Founder & Managing Trustee) of the Sankara’s Hospital no words to describe the generosity of the couple Ramani. Most folks display a collection of dolls in their houses in steps -- Abundant cultural activities occur.  People sing, dance, play musical instruments, dress up in finery, do crafts/arts displays and generally celebrate.  This festival reminds everyone that we are all dolls in the hands of God.  You won't see the doll displays in houses in this format, during the rest of the year.  It is called the "Golu".  The doll displays are unique to southern India and more so in TamilNadu state.  The decorations in the temples are also AMAZING !!
